The Embedded Applications Engineer at DE Design Works enjoys working in a casual collaborative team environment, with other
Engineers and customers on a variety of product development projects which typically include custom hardware and software, wired
and wireless communications technologies, control systems, and user interfaces. The team member is comfortable working
independently and collaboratively on multiple projects, continuous learning, balancing priorities, working with hardware Engineers
over electronic schematics and component datasheets, and using standard electronics lab equipment for software/hardware

Desired Skills & Experience


Design and develop embedded software and software platforms. Design and implement embedded applications, incorporating as
appropriate custom software and open-source platform software. Work with management, team, and customers to develop and
document requirements. Communicate regularly with customer. Some occasional domestic travel to customer locations may be


Requires a minimum of 4-years of experience working hands-on in Embedded systems with microcontrollers, embedded PC or other
low-level software/hardware environment. A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering or Computer Science is required.
Strong communication skills are necessary. This position reports to the Director of Software Engineering.


Required: Solid Embedded programming skills in C, C++, embedded MCU/MPU and/or embedded PC platforms. Embedded Linux
preferred. Working knowledge of communication technologies (UART, USB, I2C, SPI.) Ability to read and interpret schematics and
device datasheets. Adept use of software version control systems in daily work.

Useful skills: Embedded GNU/Linux, Buildroot, Yocto, Linux device drivers, C#, security technologies, IoT platforms, AWS/Azure,
VB.NET, Python, RTOS, PIC16/24/32, DSP and signal processing, CPLD/FPGA programmable logic and digital design, motor and
motion control, graphics and user interface development, Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, CAN bus, TPC/IP Networking, App
development (Android Java, iOS)
